Michael Carrick: No timeline for Benjamin Sesko’s Man United return

Michael Carrick has said there is no timeline for Benjamin Sesko‘s return after the Manchester United striker suffered a second shin injury.

Sesko withdrew from international duty with Slovenia after missing the 1-1 draw with Fulham before the break. Carrick has confirmed the 23-year-old is recovering from a similar problem that kept him out for three months over the summer.

Sesko will miss Tottenham‘s visit to Old Trafford on Saturday and Carrick has acknowledged he doesn’t know when he’ll be back.

“It’s not the exact issue, it’s a similar area, but it’s not the exact same thing again,” Carrick said on Friday.

“We’re kind of still working through it a little bit to see how long the issue will be. We’re hoping that it’ll be soon, obviously, but at this moment it’s still not quite clear.”

Patrick Dorgu is also sidelined after suffering a hamstring injury playing for Denmark. Noussair Mazraoui is a doubt to face Spurs, but Carlos Baleba could feature for the first time since his summer move from Brighton.

“Patrick came off and looks like he’ll be out for probably a number of weeks,” Carrick said.

“Nous came off and took a knock. He’s not quite right yet, so we’ll have to see how he is. Carlos has improved, he’s trained a lot.

“Amad’s done a little bit of training, Marcus [Rashford] has done a little bit of training, Kobbie [Mainoo] has done a little bit of training. So, a little bit mixed really between the group.”
