Greenwood, the man who was arrested last week on charges of raping and assaulting his girlfriend, has been released on bail. The fallout from that arrest is still going on.
Until further notice, Greenwood will not be able to play or train for Manchester United.
Nike said in a statement last week that they “are paying close attention to these disturbing allegations and will keep an eye on the situation.”
On Monday, Nike said that it was ending its contract with Greenwood. The company said in a statement that Mason Greenwood is no longer an athlete for the company.
People who want to buy United shirts haven’t been able to see Greenwood’s name in the shirt sale dropdown list. Some sponsors have kept their distance from the player, and Nike said that it was cancelling his contract.
