In the Coppa Italia last 16, AC Milan came from behind to upset rival Serie A club Genoa after extra time.
Leo Skiri Ostigard, a Brighton loanee, had put Genoa ahead in the first half, but Olivier Giroud, a former Arsenal and Chelsea striker, headed home a cross from Theo Hernandez to force extra time.
Rafael Leao gave Milan the lead for the first time in the 102nd minute.
Stefano Pioli’s team advanced as Hernandez set up Alexis Saelemaekers to score Milan’s third goal.
Milan, who are now second in Serie A, has won the Coppa Italia five times, the latest time in 2003, and will meet either Lazio or Udinese in the quarter-finals in February.
Napoli loses with seven goals and three red cards.
Napoli, who are one place below Milan in the league, were eliminated from the cup earlier on Thursday, losing 5-2 to Fiorentina at home in a match that also went to extra time.
Fiorentina took the lead via Dusan Vlahovic, but Dries Mertens equalised before Bartlomiej Dragowski was sent off in first-half injury time, reducing the visitors to ten men.
Cristiano Biraghi regained their advantage, but despite losing both Hirving Lozano and Fabien Ruiz to red cards, Napoli scored a late equaliser through Andrea Petagna to force extra time.
Fiorentina scored three goals in the second half, through Lorenzo Venuti, Krzysztof Piatek, and Youssef Maleh, to set up a home draw with Atalanta in the next round.
