Sergio Ramos scored his first goal for Paris St.Germain as they beat Reims to keep their Ligue 1 title.
As the game neared halftime, Marco Verratti scored his first league goal in more than two years. This was his first goal in a game in the league since 2017.
It was Ramos who made a save. After the break, he scored on the rebound. Wout Faes’ own goal was what made the win safe.
Fourth goal: Danilo put the ball in the back of the net after a deflection. PSG now has 11 points more than the second-place team in Ligue 1.
As the game went on, Reims kept fighting for more than 40 minutes. Verratti’s goal was a big part of the win.
Bradley Locko had made a save from home goalkeeper Keylor Navas. Hugo Ekitike, a player Newcastle is interested in, fired over after cutting in from the left wing, but the goal was not enough.
But Verratti’s goal meant that PSG could play with poise and patience after the break, and Ramos added a second goal by scoring from a yard after his first shot was saved.
The former Real Madrid captain broke his PSG duck in just his fourth game and Reims lost.
Verratti was set up by Lionel Messi, who came off the bench. Faes was given credit for the goal because of a deflection as it went in, but Messi was still able to get it.
Danilo scored his second goal of the season thanks to Kylian Mbappe’s help down the left wing.
PSG has now gone 13 games unbeaten in Ligue 1, and the difference in class shows how hard it will be for the other teams to catch them.
