Barcelona set to sign Fenerbahçe goalkeeper Dominik Livaković – source

Barcelona are set to seal the signing of goalkeeper Dominik Livaković from Fenerbahçe, a source confirmed to ESPN.

Livaković, 31, arrived in Barcelona on Tuesday and will undergo a medical with the Spanish champions on Wednesday.

The Croatia international arrives to provide competition for Barça No.1 Joan García alongside current No.2 Wojciech Szczęsny.

Barça’s long-time first choice stopper Marc-André ter Stegen joined Ajax on a season-long loan earlier this summer.

Livaković becomes Barça’s sixth signing of a busy transfer window following the arrivals of Anthony Gordon, Karim Adeyemi, Jesse Bisiwu, Rodri and João Cancelo.

The club remaining open to more arrivals before next week’s deadline, with Atlético Madrid striker Julián Álvarez still a target to replace the departed Robert Lewandowski.

A defender could also be signed if there are further outgoings, with left-back Alejandro Balde’s future still uncertain.

Livaković is set for a second spell in Spanish football, although his first spell did not go to plan.

He joined Girona last summer on loan but, after failing to earn the No.1 spot, refused to play in a Copa del Rey game in order to be able to sign elsewhere in January.

Having already featured for Fenerbahçe at the start of the season, playing for Girona would have prevented him from playing for another club last season.

His aim was to play regular football before the World Cup and, after leaving Girona, he returned to previous club Dinamo Zagreb in the second half of the campaign.
