Villarreal goalkeeper Péter Gulácsi missed his team’s Champions League game against Napoli on Tuesday because of an armed home invasion at his house, the club said.
Spanish media reported armed men entered the Hungarian goalkeeper’s house while Gulácsi was there with his wife and their two children. It reportedly took place overnight from Monday to Tuesday.
There were no reports of injuries.
The club said before the game that the 36-year-old Gulácsi would be unavailable “due to personal reasons.” Luiz Júnior was in goal for Villarreal because of Gulácsi’s absence.
The Spanish club won the league-phase match 3-1.
