Borussia Dortmund announced on Monday that it had brought in striker Modeste from Cologne to replace Allais, who was diagnosed with a testicular tumor.
The 34-year-old Modeste has played for Bordeaux, Hoffenheim, Cologne, Tianjin Quanjian and other teams in his career. This time he moved from Cologne to Dortmund. The two sides signed a one-year contract and he will wear the No. 20 jersey.
Modeste said: “I am very grateful for this wonderful time in Cologne, however, at this age, Dortmund has given me a special opportunity to show myself in the Champions League at the highest level. I promise to give my best , to help the team succeed.”
Modeste played in the Bundesliga for many years, scoring 20 goals in 32 games last season. Dortmund sporting director Kyle said: “After analyzing our performance last season, the team decided to introduce a classic No. 9. With Allai recovering from illness, we are very happy to introduce Modeste, who is An experienced player who knows the Bundesliga very well, scored 20 goals last season and is a perfect fit for Dortmund football.”
