Liverpool’s Alexander Isak, Cody Gakpo, Dominik Szoboszlai to miss Champions League clash with LASK

Liverpool are set to be without Alexander Isak, Cody Gakpo and Dominik Szoboszlai for Wednesday’s UEFA Champions League clash with LASK.

All three players missed the Reds’ 3-0 defeat to Manchester City on Sunday after sustaining injuries during the international break. Isak and Gakpo both had to withdraw from international duty with a thigh injury and an ankle injury respectively while Szoboszlai returned from the Hungary camp with a tight hamstring.

The trio have all failed to recover in time for Wednesday’s clash at Raiffeisen Arena and are not part of Liverpool’s 23-player travelling party to Austria.

Speaking about Szoboszlai’s fitness at the weekend, Iraola said: “Dom came from the national team with tightness, an overload. We put him as a floater in the training and tried to protect him but he was feeling something very small. It’s true that now we play four games in 10 days, so it’s going to be difficult because we fly to Austria in two days. I think it’s going to be difficult to recover any of the players.”

The Liverpool boss is expected to give a further update on the players’ fitness in his prematch news conference on Tuesday.
