Manchester City are in talks to sign Cody Gakpo from Liverpool, sources have told ESPN.
City have been given encouragement that Gakpo is interested in a move to the Etihad Stadium and are pressing ahead with discussions.
The Dutchman — who started Liverpool’s 2-2 draw with Nottingham Forest on Saturday — is one of a number of forwards who have been considered to boost Enzo Maresca’s squad along with Everton‘s Iliman Ndiaye and Pedro Neto at Chelsea.
City have already agreed a deal with Palmeiras for Brazilian winger Allan. Both Savio and Omar Marmoush left the club to join Tottenham last week.
Sources have told ESPN that City are set for a busy end to the transfer window. As well as negotiations for Gakpo, City are also expected to make at least one late bid for Chelsea midfielder Enzo Fernández.
