Christian Pulisic returned to training with AC Milan on Tuesday for the first time since suffering an injury as the United States exited the World Cup in the round of 16.
Pulisic sustained a bone bruise and microfracture in his lower leg seven minutes into the second half of the U.S. men’s national team’s 4-1 defeat to Belgium on July 6, when he attempted to take a shot on goal but struck the back of midfielder Youri Tielemans‘ leg.

ESPN reported that the time that Pulisic was set to miss between four and six weeks.
“I just totally twisted my ankle and my knee in one play,” Pulisic said after the match. “I mean, whatever. I have time to rest. It’s just an unfortunate way to finish.”
After missing all of Milan’s preseason, the 27-year-old completed part of Tuesday’s training session under new head coach Ruben Amorim.
Milan kick off their new Serie A season at Torino on Sunday, although reports in Italy suggest Pulisic is unlikely to take part in the game but could be in line for a return in the team’s home opener against Venezia on Aug. 28.
Pulisic said he was “disappointed with myself” after sustaining multiple injuries during the home World Cup for the U.S. In addition to the microfracture, the U.S. attacker dealt with a calf injury that he first sustained in training two days before the team’s tournament opener against Paraguay.
He aggravated the injury against Paraguay and had to be substituted at halftime.
He went on to sit out the match against Australia and played 32 minutes against Türkiye before returning to the starting lineup and playing 88 minutes in the 2-0 round-of-32 victory over Bosnia-Herzegovina.
