Arsenal‘s Riccardo Calafiori can lay claim to a unique first after his goal against Leeds United at the Emirates Stadium on Saturday.
Calafiori scored Arsenal’s initial equaliser after James Justin opened the scoring for Leeds, and he did so wearing the special edition David Beckham predators, made to celebrate 25 years since his free-kick against Greece that took England to the 2002 World Cup.
And so, the Italian became not only the first professional player to wear them but also the first to score with them on.
Bruno Guimarães scored Arsenal’s second of the afternoon as they came back from a goal down to get back to winning ways after the extended international break.
The boots, made by Adidas, was co-designed by Beckham himself and is “inspired by one of the most defining moments in both David Beckham’s career and Predator history,” according to the company.
“Few moments in football history capture the spirit of Predator quite like David Beckham’s free kick against Greece,” Sam Handy, General Manager of Adidas Football said.
“With this special edition release, we wanted to honour that moment through a design that combines authentic football heritage, premium craftsmanship and modern performance innovation.”
