Harry Maguire has said Manchester United‘s summer signings will have had a “shock” after the reaction to the defeat to Hull City, but insisted the result at the MKM Stadium was never a “crisis.”
Michael Carrick’s team bounced back from their 2-0 defeat on the opening weekend to beat Ipswich 5-2 on Sunday.
Maguire admitted the result created a lot of “noise.”
But the defender said United’s players have learned to handle the criticism, even if summer signings Youri Tielemans and Andrey Santos are not yet used to the intense spotlight at Old Trafford.
“It’s not a crisis for us,” said Maguire.
“I just think the outside makes it, tries to get inside and tries to make it feel like a crisis, but you’ve got to remain focused.
“I think the biggest thing when you play for this club is when you win, don’t get too high and when you lose, don’t get too low. It’s so important for this club.
“I think the new lads would have had a little bit of a shock over the last week if they’ve been reading anything or watching TV and things like that.

“But that’s part and parcel of playing for the club, everyone wants to speak about it and especially when we lose.”
After beating Ipswich, Carrick left the door open for the club to make more signings before the transfer window closes on Tuesday.
United are still working on bringing in a left-back to provide competition for Luke Shaw, although there is no guarantee that a deal will materialise.
Many fans will be glued to the TV and social media as the deadline approaches, but Maguire says it will be largely ignored by the players.
“We don’t really speak about it,” he said.
“The WhatsApp group definitely isn’t going off. I’ll probably check at the end of the day to see what’s happened. Hopefully there will be some exciting deals, but I think as a player, we’ve got great belief in the squad.
“We have a good squad. If they want to bring in some players to help us, then the more, the merrier and the bigger the squad, the better the squad, the more chance we have of winning trophies. No, I don’t really sit in front of the TV and watch it.”
