Man City announce signing of Allan Elias from Palmeiras

Manchester City have completed the signing of Allan Elias from Palmeiras, the club have confirmed.

The Brazilian winger will move to the Etihad Stadium in a deal worth an initial £32 million ($43m) with another £2m in potential add-ons, subject to international clearances. The 22-year-old has signed a five-year deal and becomes City’s sixth summer signing.

“This is a surreal moment for me. Manchester City, with everything they have won over the past 15 years, are one of the most attractive clubs in the world for players,” Allan said.

“To be able to sit here today and say I have joined them is the proudest moment of my life.

“I love Palmeiras and always will, but the decision to come to City was an easy one. I want to be the best footballer I can be and the conversations I’ve had with the people at City so far have convinced me there isn’t a better place for me to fulfil my ambitions.

“I want to promise the Manchester City fans I will give absolutely everything to make the most of this opportunity.”

Allan might not be the last new arrival before Tuesday’s transfer deadline.

Sources have told ESPN that City are in talks over a deal for Liverpool forward Cody Gakpo. The Dutchman is valued at around £85m by Liverpool, who are keen to sign a replacement before sanctioning any move.

City are also expected to make at least one bid for Chelsea midfielder Enzo Fernández before the deadline. The Argentinian was left out of the Chelsea squad for their 4-3 win over Brighton at Stamford Bridge on Sunday.
